FAQ Changes to the Rope Runner Vertec

Sherrilltree Aug 7th 2025
When a powerful storm hits, it doesn’t just leave behind puddles and broken fences—it leaves twisted branches, uprooted trees, and dangling limbs that pose serious safety risks. Storm tree cleanup isn’t just hard work; it’s technical, dangerous, and requires specialized equipment to do safely and efficiently.
This is part three of the top tools every climber needs. We've covered saddles, climbing lines, a climbing system, loop runners, carabiners, foot ascenders, lanyards, and helmets, handsaws.

Notch updated Rope Runner Vertec

Based on valuable feedback from the arborist community, Notch equipment made a small refinement to the lower attachment point to improve the tending experience—while keeping the same smooth modulation and tool-free adjustability that users love. With this update, they ensured that larger diameter ropes and carabiners can experience the same smooth tending and modulation as those using smaller ropes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What changed with the Rope Runner Vertec?

A small refinement was made to the lower attachment point to improve the tending experience based on real-world feedback from arborists. The bridge attachment point has been extended to accommodate larger diameter ropes as well as larger carabiner profiles. The core performance, smooth modulation, and tool-free adjustability remain the same.

Q: Is this a completely new model or a better version?

No, this is not a new model or a superior version—it’s the same trusted Rope Runner Vertec with a minor update for improved ease of use.

Q: Do all Rope Runner Vertec’s need to be replaced?

No. This is not a recall. Arborists who use smaller ropes, or smaller profile carabiners will not notice any change with this updated component. This change only affects climbers who use larger diameter ropes and carabiners who have experienced some challenges with tending and modulation. Now, with this new friction body kit, they can experience the same smooth tending and modulation as those using smaller ropes.

Q: Does this cost extra?

No. The updated Rope Runner Vertec is sold at the same price as previous units.
